1. Never state your offer first. Let the other party say how much they want and then work your way down.

3. Be the only person negotiating on your own behalf. You cannot control what comes out of an ally’s mouth, and it may undermine your position.

3. Do your research. Know where the other side is coming from so you can have an idea of what they may be willing to accept.
